Neapolitan, founder in 1967 of the "Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare" with Eugenio Bennato and Carlo D'Angiò, which, under the guidance of director Roberto De Simone achieved great success in our country and abroad. Well-known by both public and critics, he is appreciated for the expressive quality of his voice. An extremely versatile artist, he has partecipated in musical, theatrical, and cinematographic works. With the NCCP he has recorded fifteen LP's and has performed in many concerts throughout the world: from the Opera House of Sidney to the Festivals of Berlin, Caracas,Paris, and Buenos Aires.He also had leading roles in prestigious plays, such as "La Gatta Cenerentola", by Roberto De Simone, "La Cantata dei Pastori", "Carmina Vivianea", "La Cantata di Masaniello", and "Le 99 Disgrazie di Pulcinella". In addition Giovanni Mauriello has starred in "Pulcinella", and "Histoire du Soldat" by Igor Stravinskij, directed by Salvatore Accardo and Roberto De Simone. When the NCCP split off, he, and his collegues, continued to carry on the old popular tradition.
